Station Road Surgery in Sowerby Bridge underwent a programme of refurbishment and extension works to provide additional modern clinical facilities within an operational GP practice. The project involved the careful demolition of an existing conservatory-style waiting room and construction of a new purpose-built extension, providing two additional consulting rooms and finished externally with contemporary zinc cladding. Particular consideration was given to integrating the new extension with the existing property, which is a building of conservation interest, while creating a high-quality modern addition. Further internal refurbishment and alteration works were undertaken to improve the surgery’s existing clinical and patient areas. With the practice remaining operational throughout, careful planning, segregation and coordination were essential to maintain safe access for patients and staff and minimise disruption to day-to-day services. The completed scheme demonstrates our experience in delivering sensitive extension and refurbishment projects within live primary healthcare environments.
